About 1st Walsall Online

1st Walsall Online, is the official website for 1st Walsall Scout Group, designed to introduce you to, and keep you up to date with 1st Walsall Scout Group together with the Scouting Movement.

Version 6.0

1st Walsall Online was 10 years old in 2007 and now in our sixth build. Whilst in our latest build much of the content has been updated including the removal of older material the majority of the work is in the redesign and technical aspects of the site.

Recent years have seen a tendency for web users to disable Javascript which was address in version 5.0 however the latest issue with website's is accessibility. Previous versions of 1st Walsall Online would not meet the needs of the numerous accessibility guidelines that are in place today.

With this in mind, version 6.0 is hopefully our most user friendly site to date and although we attempt to cover all areas of accessibility, we are far from perfect hence if you experience any difficulties with our site please contact us with the details.

For those of you with an interest our website's coding has changed from HTML 4.01 Transitional to XHTML Strict 1.0 while our scripting programs have been changed from PERL to PHP. Version 6.0 is also designed using CSS which although used previously for display purposes have not been used control the site layout till now. Additionally for interest we have not moved servers this time.
